I cannot believe that it is over a year since I started this blog. I had such good intentions at the time and then other things took over. My intention was to buy a houseboat. Simple as that. And I thought it would be a brilliant idea to document my progress, with all the information, as and when I found it. That way I could keep myself organised and share with anyone else interested in the same thing. Well needless to say I didn't keep it up, I was just simply too busy.

So what is the allure of living afloat?

A nomadic life, the ability to up sticks, (or, rather, anchor), and move to a new location. In reallity although this is possible it not something I actually do now that I have the ability. In some way just having that option is enough. Do you know what I mean?

Going on a tour of the canals and locks is wonderful though. You need to be fit! If you're not you very soon will be. It's an active life, but one that can be taken at a leisurely pace for the most part. Perfect.

I have some pictures of just such a tour which I will post tomorrow, or at least try to. I didn't have a good digital camera at the time so I will have to go through the process of scanning etc. but I would love to have a few pics here.
